This time in our Meet the Seabernauts series, we’re introducing Eric Pastor, who joined Seaber at the end of 2024 as a Quality Assurance Engineer.
In his role as Quality Assurance Engineer, Eric is responsible for implementing automated tests that simulate user interactions with Seaber’s software. His work ensures smooth performance across the platform, helping identify potential issues before they reach customers. By spotting and reporting bugs early, Eric plays a key role in maintaining the reliability and quality of Seaber’s product.
Eric graduated with a degree in Nautical Science and Maritime Transport, where his interest in programming began while creating calculator applications to solve ship stability and celestial navigation challenges. Later, as a deck cadet officer, he witnessed the first steps of digitalization on board, such as the use of digital logbooks. This sparked his curiosity about the evolving role of technology in maritime transport and inspired him to be part of that transformation.
Moving to Finland for family reasons, Eric discovered Seaber, a company that perfectly combined three of his passions: maritime, software, and location.
Eric’s professional path is anything but ordinary. Early in his career, he worked as a technical buyer and vendor for hydraulic and pneumatic components. He then served as a police officer in Barcelona, a role that often placed him in demanding situations but also gave him the rewarding opportunity to help people. His diverse experience now brings a unique perspective to his work in software quality assurance.
Family time takes priority for Eric, whether it’s playing soccer with his youngest child or spending time together at home. He also enjoys swimming, playing guitar, and, whenever summer allows, being by the Mediterranean Sea.
Although many assume that, as a Spaniard, Eric must be a passionate soccer fan, this couldn’t be further from the truth. Instead, his true passion lies in studying flamenco guitar, a pursuit that, as he jokes, more than makes up for his lack of football enthusiasm.
